ABOUT THIS FLOOR SPRING

The 703.NHO.SS Floor Spring – Non Hold Open (NHO) is a cam-action hydraulic floor mounted door closer designed to control the opening and closing of glass and aluminium doors.

Floor springs are installed inside the floor beneath the door, providing a concealed and durable closing mechanism while allowing the door to operate smoothly.

Floor springs are commonly used on glass shopfront doors, aluminium entrance doors and commercial buildings where a traditional surface mounted door closer is not suitable.

The 703 floor spring is designed for doors up to 100kg, making it ideal for medium duty commercial aluminium and glass entrance doors.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT FLOOR SPRING

Floor springs are selected according to door width and door weight.

Typical guideline:

Doors up to 70kg → 702

Doors up to 100kg → 703

Doors up to 150kg → 704

Selecting the correct spring strength ensures smooth and reliable door operation.

INSTALLATION INFORMATION

Floor springs are installed inside the floor in a floor spring box beneath the door.

The door connects to the floor spring using:

• Bottom pivot spindle
• Top pivot bracket

Professional installation is recommended to ensure correct alignment and performance.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTE (PIVOT SET REQUIREMENT)

Floor springs are only one part of a complete pivot door system.

While the floor spring controls the closing and opening of the door, the weight of the door is carried by the pivot system.

For heavier doors (especially glass and large timber doors), it is critical to use a heavy-duty pivot set that is correctly rated for the door weight.

In many standard installations, basic pivot sets are used. However, these are often not suitable for large or high-traffic doors.

For optimal performance and long-term durability, we recommend:

• Using heavy-duty pivot sets for doors above 100kg
• Ensuring the top centre and bottom pivot are correctly specified
• Matching the pivot system to the door weight, not just the floor spring

Failure to use the correct pivot hardware can result in:

• Premature wear
• Misalignment
• Poor door operation

If you are unsure, The Stickman Store can recommend a complete pivot system to match your floor spring.
